Chess as Played in the Real World - No. 1

A new year and a new beginning. Rook Van Winkle has fallen asleep here for a couple months distracted by some persistent health issues. But the game is far from over - even if my "opponent" is up a minor piece or a passed pawn or two! Time to play harder still! With that as my call to action I will attempt to pick up where I left off with a little annotated game (the first I've played since November 2006). It is not a great game or anything - but it does illustrate chess "as it is played" in the real world by those such as myself:

Looking at it now, this game shows how recklessly White (me) played the game. I'll add some comments and diagrams soon. Playing Black is my younger sister - who has not played chess in 25 years - but does very well!

Hi, I really like your blog. I recently started a chess video site (www.chess-videos.com) where people watch watch chess training videos or post and discuss their own games. I wanted to get chess bloggers' perspectives on the site and was wondering if you could let me know what you think. Also, if you're interested, I've invited people to submit games and I can analyze them and post a video. For a sample of my analysis, feel free to check out the site. Everyone on the site is completely free. Thanks!
